We came across a great Ted Talk this week: Self-Directed Education is a Really Good Idea, given by Joel Hammon. Here's a description of the video: There is a lot of talk about how traditional education is not always a good fit for every young person. What’s not talked about as much, but is absolutely true from my experience in the system, is that traditional education is not a good fit for many of the adults working there as well.

As we mentioned in our podcast episode this week about starting a school, sometimes the mainstream educational system is difficult for the teachers as well as the students, and sometimes that sparks an interest in founding something completely new.
